Tradition

Our firm was founded by Gottfried Hasenkamp in the year 1868, with its first offices in what was then the Bremen suburb of Schwachhausen. The same year saw the birth of Maxim Gorky and Max Slevogt, Claude Monet painted “The Breakfast“ and Johannes Brahms’ “German Requiem” received its first performance in Bremen Cathedral to great acclaim.

Subsequent generations of partners have successfully defended their clients’ interests ever since, and the firm has gained renown beyond the Bremen region. The eponym of the firm, Dr. Horst Kessler, joined the firm in 1957 and has been activ up to 2003.

Our offices have been located in Bremen’s city centre since the late 1950s, firstly at Schüsselkorb 8, and since 1976 at Martinistrasse 57
(see " How to get there").
